Ladies! Have you wanted to try parkour only to be discouraged by the overwhelming testosterone? Do you find it upsetting that parkour is a heavily male dominated community? Well here's your try parkour for the first time in a less macho atmosphere and make a dent in the gender imbalance in parkour.

SFParkour and the Berkeley Parkour Collective are hosting a free, all-female workshop where you and your friends can learn the fundamentals of parkour, focusing less on big moves and more on graceful movement. This 2 hour workshop will be designed to teach parkour with women in mind, emphasizing balance, gracefulness, footwork, progressive training techniques, basic strength conditioning, creativity, and exploration.

We will meet at 1:00PM at the Campanile, the clock tower in the middle of the UC Berkeley campus. Invite your (girl)friends!

Mandy and Anne are hosting a beginner's workshop for women and girls on October 16 with other Houston area practitioners. It will be taught by traceuses (female practitioners of parkour) from all over Texas and beyond.

This event is FREE. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Seriously :). At the recent co-ed beginner's workshop in Austin, one of our youngest participants was 8, our oldest was mid-50s, and they were BOTH female. Then there was everyone in between, from the very fit, to the curious couch potato.

If you are under 12, a parent or legal guardian must accompany you, and if you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian must sign the following waiver: (waiver forthcoming)

If you've wanted to try parkour, but have felt apprehensive for whatever reason, this is your chance! You'll get to experience it with other women who are patient, enthusiastic, and encouraging. If you've thought to yourself, "Nah, that's not for me," come let us prove you wrong!

Stick around after the workshop for a Co-ed Jam with some of the best traceuses AND traceurs around Texas!

We will also be accepting sneaker donations for Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe program the day of the event. The program takes old sneakers, grinds them up, and they become part of an athletic surface, such as a court, track, field or playground.

If you decide to bring shoes, there are a few guidelines:

# Athletic shoes (running shoes, sneakers, etc.)
# You can recycle any brand of shoes
# No shoes containing metal
# No cleats or dress shoes
# No wet or damp shoes
# No sandals or flip-flops
